What is THAI MASSAGE?
Thai
Massage is an ancient body therapy for healing, wellbeing and self
transformation. Interactively, Thai massage is a manipulation of the
body that utilizes passive stretching and soft pressure. Thai
massage helps to align skeletal structure and increase flexibility.
Thai massage also helps to relieve musculoskeletal stress and
stimulate internal organs. Overall, Thai massage is a unique
technique that balances the body's total energy system. Thai massage
gives a relaxing and revitalizing effect, as it is similar to both
Yoga and acupressure. Thai massage is not only a physical
experience, but an integration of body, mind, and spirit that
encourages self healing and wellness.
Table Thai massage lasts 60- 80 minutes and is
performed on the massage table. Clients are usually dressed in
comfortable and loose clothing while the Thai massage practitioner
gives the massage.
Thai massage focuses on circulation
and pressure points, promoting internal health as well as muscular
flexibility.
During a traditional Thai massage the
massage therapist will use their hands, elbows, knees and feet to
apply various pressures to the energy lines along the body.
Table Thai Massage is practiced on a
massage table. The therapist will only use their own body weight to
apply various pressures to joints & muscles. Except for their
feet, the client remains fully clothed during a Thai Massage.
Compared to the pressure we are used
to in Western massages, Thai may be a bit harder than were used to.
Thai massage is often considered too strenuous; however the worst
thing a client can do during a Thai massage is tense up in order to
fight the pressure of the therapist’s stroke. This can damage your
muscles and cause unnecessary strain. For the massage to be
effective the client must give themselves over to the massage, and
the therapist must be able to freely manipulate the client’s limbs
to encourage stretching of muscles, opening joints and enhancing the
blood and lymph flow.
What
is Hot Stone Massage:
Hot Stone Massage is a Swedish relaxation style of
massage that uses smooth, heated Basalt stones. The stones are round or
oval, of varying sizes and weights. Some stones are the size of
the tip of you thumb (these are used between the toes), while others
can be very large – 2 or 3 pounds in weight. The larger stones are
normally used on the sacrum or low abdomen. The stones are heated using
water, and the temperature ranges from 120-135 degrees
Fahrenheit. It is a
deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage.
Stone massage makes you feel deeply relaxed, allowing
you to let go of all the stress that is held within your body. This massage is quite gentle
in comparison with Therapeutic or deep tissue massage, but it has
many similar benefits.
Hot stone massage may be more suitable for those individuals
that prefer a lighter massage, but need depth.
